 Ms. Alfreda Jean Grady

Alfreda Jean Grady, age 80, of Tampa, Florida, peacefully passed away on May 12, 2025.

A celebration of life and reflection will be held Saturday May 24, 2025, at 1pm, at Beulah Baptist Institutional Church, 1006 West Cypress Street Tampa, Florida 33606, with Pastor Allen Harris, officiating. A visitation from 12noon to 12:45pm will precede the home going ceremony at Beulah Baptist. A committal will be made at the Church.


Born on September 8, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia, Alfreda was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Grady and Maxie Shaw Grady Baker.


Alfreda was an accomplished and dedicated educator and professional. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Fort Valley State University in 1968. Continuing her academic excellence, she received her first Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling from Atlanta University in 1970, and a second Master’s Degree in Finance and Accounting in 1982 from the same institution. That same year, she ranked 10th among college students nationwide.  A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Alfreda was honored as a Golden Soror.


She was also a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Institutional Church, where she served as Chairperson of the General Home Mission. In addition to her church service, she gave her time generously as a volunteer at the food bank with Reach City Church.


Ms. Alfreda Grady was preceded in death by her brother, Charles E. Grady.


A woman of strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication, Alfreda leaves behind a legacy of love and service.


She is survived by her cherished sisters: Betty Baker Guzman, Ora Lee Grady Jackson, and Dicy Grady Conage. She also leaves a host of devoted nieces and nephews who were deeply touched by her wisdom and warmth, including: Tara Guzman Clark (Terry), Brittany Guzman (Larry), Mia Guzman, Jenelle Guzman, Chari Guzman Hodges (Sunni), Autumn Clark, Tamijhia Richards, Brandice Payne, Cheryl Guzman, Tia Conage, Angela Conage, Aprili Conage, Victoria Richards, Earl Conage, Herbert Guzman Jr. (Angela), Keith Guzman, Braxton Wright, Julian Guzman-Richardson (Zackice), Maurice Richards, Emmanuel Conage, Mio Arline (Nikki), Vernon Cole (Camille), Maurice Jackson (Angela), Terry Clarke II, and Andrew Clarke (Rebecca), as well as a large and loving extended family of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
