Mr. Shadrick Williams Sr. aka “Jessie”
A homegoing celebration in loving memory of Shadrick Williams Sr. aka “Jessie”, who passed away on March 6, 2025, will be held Saturday March 22, at 11am, at Harmon Funeral Home 5002 N. 40th Street ~ Tampa, FL 33610 with Apostle Andrew Holder, Officiating.
Shadrick Williams Sr affectionately called “Jessie” was born June 30, 1942, in Gadsden County, Florida to the late Henry & Mary Williams. He was the baby of the family out of 13 siblings. He was reared in Hardaway, FL and educated in Gadsden County Schools. As a young man Jessie served in the U.S. Army and was discharged under honorable conditions on February 18, 1971.
He resided in Miami, FL for approximately 53 years. While in Miami, FL, he was gainfully employed as a security guard and a trolley driver. He was a trolley driver for Bayside Market Place and Century Village in Pembroke Pines, FL where he retired as a supervisor after 35 years of devoted service. For 43 years Jessie was married to the love of his life, Annie Virginia Williams. To this union they shared 4 children. Jessie was a beloved brother, uncle, spouse, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and a friend to all.
After living in Miami for the majority of his life, he traded in the big-city life for peace & quiet and migrated to Hewitt, Texas where he resided for 9 years with his wife, Virginia, and his daughter, Cassandra. Subsequently, they relocated to Tampa, Florida, to be closer to his siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was a resident of Tampa for 5 years.
In his spare time, Jessie loved to ride motorcycles, fish, watch football, and plant vegetables. His favorite vegetables in his garden were collard greens and okra. He was loved by many for his quick wit, humor, and zest for life. He loved spending quality time with his family, making everyone laugh, and being “the life” of the party.
Jessie was preceded in death by both of his parents, Henry and Mary Williams; wife, Virginia; siblings, Henry Williams Jr, Joseph Williams, Lula Monroe, Bernice Carter, Beulah Joseph, Rebecca McMillan, Katie Mae Brantley, Kaleb Charles Williams Sr, and Tellice Williams.
He leaves to cherish fond and precious memories, 4 children his dedicated caretaker of 16 years, his daughter, Cassandra Mitchell of Tampa, FL; Captain Shadrick Williams Jr. - 06 of Chicago, IL; Karen Williams of Miami, FL; and Charles Williams of Miami, FL; 5 grandchildren Angalenia Garvin of Miramar, FL; Robert Jones of Miami, FL; Laronda Williams of Port St. Lucie, FL; Surpris Cherazard of Jacksonville, FL; Anna Rose Cherazard of Miami, FL; 4 great grandchildren, Turane Rouse and Steve Jackson both of Miami, FL; Alexis Jackson (Adam) of Orlando, FL; Tarquiesha Davis of Miami, FL; 1 special great great granddaughter, Naveah Rouse of Miami, FL; 3 loving sisters: Mattie L. Williams, Lueannie (Elder Leroy) Atkins, Martha L. Williams, all of Tampa, FL: and a host of other great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends; 1 brother-in-law, Bertrum Balfour of Orlando, FL; 2 sorrowing great nephews, Courtney Carr and Torri Carr, both of Tampa, FL.
Jessie will forever hold a special place in our hearts and his memories will be cherished forever.
